This Saturday afternoon, from 4:15–5:00 PM, join us for a Ski Mountaineering Low-Angle Rescue Demonstration with our Ski Patrol andStowe Mountain Rescue at Lincoln Peak! As part of NSAA Safety Month, watch a live, on-snow demo showcasing the techniques and equipment used to perform low-angle rescues in backcountry and alpine environments. This ground-based demo will take place at the Snow Creek Sign across from Valley House.

Watch as rescuers stage a realistic scenario in which a skier has fallen over the edge of a trail that’s too steep, icy, or unsafe to ski. The team will demonstrate a rope rescue system using 3:1 and other mechanical advantages, pulleys, anchors, and belay devices to safely haul a patient back to the top. This is a hands-on and in-depth rescue demonstration: while anchors will be pre-set, attendees will have the opportunity to take turns hauling, working the belay devices, and seeing how the full rescue system operates.
