Freestyle Development Team
The Freeski Development Team is built for adventurous skiers ready to explore the mountain in a whole new way. Open to advanced youth skiers ages 8–14, this program focuses on moguls, slopestyle and big mountain fundamentals in a fun, team-based setting.
Training sessions are designed to build technical skills, confidence and style. Whether skiing steeps and trees, hitting rails and jumps or carving clean lines through the bumps. The development track emphasizes exploration, safety and self-expression without the pressure of competition, though athletes are welcome to participate in local events if interested.
Coaches work closely with the same groups each weekend to encourage growth and progression while keeping things lighthearted and high-energy. Sessions run Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, based out of Mt. Ellen and frequently skiing both mountains. Athletes must be advanced all-mountain skiers, comfortable in variable terrain, and equipped with a Sugarbush Premium or Ikon Pass.

Dress in appropriately warm base layers. Cotton is not recommended, as it does not keep kids warm when wet. Wear waterproof outer layers and gloves or mittens. Helmets are required, and don't forget goggles or sunglasses!

SEASON PASSES
What is the Sunday Add-On?
The Sunday Add-On is only available for our Blazer programs. It extends your child's time in the program on Sundays, adding 12-2PM to their day. It is a great way to maximize the weekend.Where do we meet on program days?
Detailed check-in instructions will be emailed before the season begins. How are the groups determined?
The first two weeks of the season are crucial. Coaches evaluate each child’s ability, comfort and personality to build balanced groups that support learning and fun. Groups may shift slightly to ensure the best fit for everyone on a given weekend. What if we miss a day?
We’re unable to offer make-up sessions or refunds for missed days due to weather, illness or other conflicts. Every weekend is unique, and our coaches do their best to keep the group progressing even when someone is out. Consistent absences may result in a Blazer falling behind the ability level of their group. What happens in bad weather?
Seasonal programs run in most conditions... snow, sleet or shine! Make sure to pack and dress appropriately. We monitor forecasts closely, and in the rare case of extreme weather or dangerous travel, we’ll notify families. My child is just learning. Is there a program for them?
Yes! Micro Blazers and Mini Blazers may be a great fit depending on age and comfort on snow. If your child is brand new to skiing or riding, we also recommend our Schoolhouse Programs. Check out our Schoolhouse Lesson Packs for savings on multiple group lessons, on sale for a limited time at the beginning of the season. -
