The Story
It starts on the drive up…the transformation. Whether you’re in the car by yourself, with the mountain friends or even have “boisterous” children bouncing and barking in the back, there’s the voice that begins to ask, “Who might you be today?”Vermont’s Green Mountains offer an uncommon opportunity to maybe see a different side of you. And at Sugarbush, we’ve been creating rare characters since the day we opened in 1958.
Oddballs. Flakes. Dreamers and screamers.
You’ll see them on the trails. You’ll chat them up on the lift. You’ll see them later in the bar.
It’s your buddy who says “one more run” for six more runs.
The little kid who skis better than all the grownups.
The family that travels as a pack, a whirling dervish of snacks, laughs, and Gore-tex.
Some characters will tell you where the goods are. And some will just smile and shrug, a furtive twinkle in their eye. Some are boisterous. Some are stealthy.
But they’re all unforgettable.
This season, in honor of all the legendary characters who have come before us and all of those still to come, we’re proud to introduce The People You Meet at Your Mountain, a new trading card challenge.
Come to Sugarbush. Collect the cards. Win the stuff.
Sugarbush. This mountain makes us.

The Characters
When it’s not ski season, you can usually find me schlepping my kids from sporting event to sporting event. I’m proud to be called a soccer mom…and a lacrosse mom…and a Little League mom. But don’t you dare call me a hockey mom. Winter belongs to me. When the snow flies, the kids are coming to Momma’s sporting event: Snowboarding at Sugarbush. It’s where screen time goes bye-bye and face-to-face time rules the day. This mountain makes me Momma Bear.
Little Ripper
I’m only eight, but I’m already a Sugarbush regular. Me and my Mom, Dad, and brother ski here every weekend. It’s where I get to hang with my friends from Blazers. Together, we’ll tackle anything. I can ramble on Rumble, go deep on Middle Earth and be in heaven on Paradise. My friends back home think I’m missing out because I go away every weekend. I just don’t have the heart to tell them that Sugarbush is really my home, and my friends in Vermont are the ones I really can’t wait to see. This mountain makes me a Little Ripper.
The Legend
Like a thousand-year storm, there ain’t another one like me coming along any time soon. I worked hard during my whole career and now I work even harder — skiing in retirement. I’m at Sugarbush six days a week, seven if my knees will let me. I ski with my kids on Saturdays, my grandkids on Sundays, and my friends and perfect strangers on all the other days. I ski when the snow is amazing and when it’s just OK. Cold temps, warm temps, wind, calm - it’s all good. This mountain makes me The Legend.
The Orbiter
Someone said your 20s are when you find yourself. Well, I plan to find myself at Sugarbush as often as possible this winter, thank you very much. I’ve got a cheap pass, some good friends, and a whole winter ahead of me. Gravity awaits, amigos. On top of the summit or standing at the base, I’m always riding high here. This mountain makes me The Orbiter.
Mr. Brightside
We all have a devil on one shoulder, an angel on the other. But for me, when it comes to winter, the devil and the angel both agree: We should lean into temptation and head for Vermont. This place is my escape, my snow-covered refuge. It’s the land of a cold beverage and a hot tub. Because no matter what’s happening anywhere else in the world, the mountain makes me Mr. Brightside.
Small Fry
I’m normal-sized most of the time, except when I get to Sugarbush. Here, I feel teeeeeny tiiiinny, and I love it. Huge mountains all around me. Giant trees. Big snows. Major vertical. And lots of big personalities. It makes me feel like a little baby in my momma’s arms. Because when I’m feeling small here, I’m really living large. This mountain makes me a Small Fry.
Rare:
Snowzilla
Fee Fi Fo Fum. I smell the blood of a Sugarbush man. Some people come to the mountains because they like to feel small. Not me. I come here to feel like a giant. At Sugarbush, I’m a monster. A Yeti on skis. A T-Rex on a chair lift. Here, the gravity makes me feel like anything is possible, and whatever worries I have are quickly dwarfed by the mountains. This mountain makes me Snowzilla.
Wake-Maker
You might have a friend like me, and that friend definitely makes your life more interesting. I’m the first to sign up for karaoke. When the hypnotist needs a volunteer, my hand is already in the air. When it’s time to moon the car next to us, I’m your girl. Come spring, my talents shine brightest at the pond skim. I’ve dressed up as a snowboarding Belgian Waffle, a chili cheese dog on skis, and a T-rex on telemarks. Like the proverbial chicken, my goal is always the same: To get to the other side. This mountain makes me a Wake-Maker.
Permagrin
I smile, therefore I am. My pearly whites are my calling card. I’m a ray of sunshine, even in the dark. My middle name is Happy. I smile from ear to ear, year after year. It takes a lot to put me in a bad mood, but so long as I get to Sugarbush, I’m the happiest person you’ll ever meet. Like a dog with two tails, I feel on top of the world when I’m on top of Vermont. This mountain makes me the Permagrin.
The Luchador
Some people are influenced by their parents, some people get inspired by a coach or a teacher, and some people have their life’s course charted by watching Lucha Libre matches on Telemundo. I’ll let you guess where I fall on that spectrum. If you’re looking for me at Sugarbush, chances are I’ll be scoping out the terrain park from the Sunny Q lift, eyeing ever more inventive ways to defy gravity. I might be happy, I might be sad, but I will almost certainly be upside down. My friends call me Lucky, but this mountain makes me The Luchador.
Rarest:
The Wing King
Spend time with me and you’re going to meet some cousins. I’ve got 63 of them, and more than a few play at Sugarbush. That liftie who helped you onto the chair? My cousin. That bartender at Castlerock Pub, who knows what you like? My cousin. That ski patroller who stopped to make sure you were ok? Yep, my cousin too (twice removed on my mother’s side). About the only thing I like more than hanging with my cousins is crushing chicken wings - Extra crispy, if you please. This mountain makes me The Wing King.
Titan of the Deep
Deep in the woods. Deep in the deep end of the pool. Deep in a hot tub. Deep in a giant bowl of poutine. Deep in a powder day. If you’re looking for me, you better skip the shallow end of life. Once I get into something, I go all the way. And ever since I found Sugarbush, this is Deep City for me. This mountain makes me the Titan of the Deep.
How to Get cards
The People You Meet at Your Mountain cards are available in packs of four. They are not for sale. Instead, we’ll be giving them away starting in the fall at ski shows and other events, and then they’ll be available through special challenges and events at Sugarbush Resort.
The best way to find out where and when cards will be available is to follow Sugarbush’s social media channels. Cards are only available on a first-come, first-served basis. Supplies are limited!
How To Win
So if you’ve made it to this section, you have already read the skinny on the prizes, right?
This is where you get to choose. (So read everything below.)
Collected all six of the Common cards? Take a photo of yourself with the cards, note which prize you wish to claim and email it to cards@sugarbush.com.
Collected all six Common and all four Rare cards?? Take a photo of yourself with the cards, note which prize you wish to claim and email it to cards@sugarbush.com.
Collected all 12??? Yup…take a photo and you know what to do.
Remember, prize quantities are limited so the first 20 emails we receive wanting the Smith sunglasses will get their shades, and so on down the prize line. Now, how to claim your prize.
We will have seven redemption events throughout the winter. We’ll publish the schedule here shortly. To get your SHWAG, you’ll have to come to one of these gigs so we can validate your cards. We’ll emboss them with a sweet three peaks logo, give you your goods and return you your cards.
Really important: Once your cards get embossed you will not be able to use those cards to get other prizes. Read another way—embossed cards cannot be combined with un-embossed cards to claim a prize. You’re welcome to start collecting from scratch if you want to stay in the challenge. Or, instead of turning your cards in and getting them embossed, you could also hold onto to them to try to get one of the other prizes by collecting the different kind of cards. It’s your call.
FAQ
A: Hell yes. Please do.
Q: What if my cousin wants to trade me three Rare cards for one Rarest card?
A: Sounds like one of those ‘three nickels for a quarter’ kind of trades, but it’s up to you.

A: You’ll need to bring them to Sugarbush, get them stamped, and then get your prize. See the How To Win section for details.

A: Yes. If you want to win prizes, we need to cancel the cards so they can’t be used to enter again, but you’re always welcome to collect more cards and try for more prizes.

A: Because it’s fun and cards are cool. Duh.
