Welcome to the Blazer community at Sugarbush! Generations of devoted skiers and their families have found a home in the Blazer program over the decades, and there still is no better way for Sugarbush kids to grow into all-mountain skiers here in New England’s best winter playground. Blazers write their own definition of Adventure every week. With a focus on teamwork to develop skills and promote our core values of safety, fun, and learning, the wider Blazer community creates truly lasting relationships between skiers and their families. Consistent groups and continuity of coaching allows participants to move forward and experience increasingly challenging adventures while becoming responsible stewards of our mountain environment.

Over at Mt Ellen, we offer a single day version of Blazers. Blazers at Mt Ellen is like everything else in comparison there, a little smaller, and a little simpler. This program attracts a lot of local, central, and northern Vermont families. To join, students need to be able to turn, stop and ride a chair independently on green terrain. There is an all-mountain skiing focus for these groups, and there is a skill range from low intermediate through advanced skiers for this program. Lunch is not provided, but groups tend to eat together in the Green Mountain Lounge or out on the deck weather permitting. This is an amazing option for a family that can’t commit both days to come ski, or that would prefer to ski as a family on Saturdays.

In the capable hands of our coaches, Mt. Ellen Blazers develop the skills necessary to explore Mount Ellen's trails, terrain park, bumps, and woods and build the foundation for a lifelong love of skiing. Mt. Ellen Blazers meet every Sunday from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM, early January through late March.

Participants must be confidently turning on blue terrain or better and be able to ride a chairlift unassisted. Skiers should be moving with the terrain and not skiing defensively in a wedge. Mt Ellen Blazers are encouraged to attend every session to maximize learning and group consistency.

Specific activities for each group vary based on ability level, goals, and conditions. Mt. Ellen Blazers can expect to spend time cruising the famed groomers, exploring the extensive wooded terrain, playing in the park, and loving the bumps. Occasional snowboarding instruction may be available to groups that wish to add to their mountain skills.

All Mt. Ellen Blazers must have an Ikon Pass.
