Sugarbush Resort Partners with Protect Our Winters (POW)

Warren, VT (April 9, 2019) – Sugarbush Resort has partnered with Protect Our Winters (POW) at their highest level of commitment, joining Patagonia, Burton, Aspen Snowmass, Clif Bar, North Face, REI, Ikon Pass, and other corporate leaders in the fight against climate change. POW focuses on educational, activist, and advocacy initiatives.

“The time to make crucial and immediate climate action is here and the outdoor community has a unique opportunity to lead,” said Jeremy Jones, professional snowboarder and founder of Protect Our Winters.

As a member of POW’s Resort Alliance, Sugarbush joins Taos, Snowbird, Big Sky, Squaw Valley, Arapahoe Basin, Sundance, and others who are taking meaningful action to address the impact of climate change on the $887 billion outdoor recreation economy. Members work together to strengthen their connection with snowsports enthusiasts who support brands that share their values, sparking conversations with guests and helping to drive the climate movement.

“Sugarbush is excited about our new partnership with Protect Our Winters,” says Sugarbush President and CEO, Win Smith. “Climate change is one of the greatest threats to our world and we are committed to work toward the solution.”

Protect Our Winters acts as a key resource to partners working toward implementing environmental best practices in their businesses and Sugarbush has already met many of their partnership criteria. The resort joined the National Ski Areas Association Climate Challenge in 2011 and since that time has tracked consistent reductions in their overall carbon footprint.
