Sugarbush Resort Hosts Final Peter’s FUNd Racer
Warren, VT (March 1, 2016) – Sugarbush will be hosting the 17th and final Peter’s FUNd Racer this weekend on both Friday, March 4th and Saturday, March 5th. The primary focus of the ski race is to raise money for melanoma research. The event is named after Peter M. Newton, who lost his life to melanoma at the age of 46.
Since it’s inception, Peter’s FUNd Racer has raised close to $1.5 million, with roughly two thirds of that going to melanoma research and the rest to local charities like The Vermont Respite House, The Cancer Patient Care program at Fletcher Allen, Sugarbush Ski Patrol, Mad River Valley Relief Fund, The Hope Lodge in Burlington, VT and others.
“My brother would be very proud of this event,” said David Newton, Peter’s brother and event organizer. “We turned a family tragedy into a very positive event, and we had a blast doing it.
