We will be continuing our charitable golf tournament to support the Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation! While I will be stepping aside as the tournament director we are pleased to announce that David Wilkins, a Navy veteran and longtime Mad River Valley visitor, will be taking over the tournament. See below about David and his good work to help our veterans. Steve Berg and I are very pleased that David is stepping up to run the tournament and we be will be assisting David to help continue this great tradition of the 16th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the “Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation*”. We are pleased to report that last year we raised $19,000 and over the past fifteen years a total of $213,000 was raised for our Vermont troops and families. This year’s tournament will once again be at the Sugarbush Golf Club - September 15, 2019. The highlight of our tournament is the buffet dinner served at the Rumble’s Kitchen at Sugarbush Resort! In addition to dinner we award team prizes, conduct a raffle and have a silent auction. I ask that you give David your support in continuing this golf tournament and I look forward to seeing you all at the tournament.
Thank you for taking the time to consider your ongoing participation and support of the Annual Vermont Troops and Families Golf Tournament at the Sugarbush Golf Club. Over the last fifteen years, Shawn Sullivan has been committed to organizing this event. When I heard that the 2018 Golf Tournament would be its last, I felt it was critical that the event Shawn has established, continue to raise money for Vermont National Guard members and their families in need.
I’m sure you are wondering who I am. I’ve been coming to the Valley for over 20 years, enjoying the seasons at Sugarbush, but moreover, the wonderful people who live here – many who’ve become close friends over the years. As a United States Navy veteran, I have been fortunate to succeed in pursuing my dream of becoming an architect, but I felt it was time to give back to my fellow veterans who could use some help. Unfortunately, many of our veterans fall upon rough times due to disability or financial distress. My desire to help my fellow, less fortunate, active service members and veterans has been a passion of mine for some time. Each time I see a veteran in need, I do my best to help, but I know I can do more and establishing the November 11th Foundation was my way to do just that.
The November 11th Foundation is in its infancy, but my passion is clear in its Mission, Vision and Core Values. Our initial programs, the Veterans Housing Institute and the Vacant Lots and Parking Spots urban garden program are the solid foundation to an organization that will do its best to provide services to veterans in need. It only seemed fitting to get involved with this event, as our intentions are so aligned.
We at the November 11th Foundation are extremely excited and honored to announce that we will be assuming the coordination and management of the Vermont Troops and Families Golf Tournament.
The Vermont Troops and Families Golf Tournament will be a collaborative effort with the November 11th Foundation so that together, we may help service members, veterans and their families here in Vermont and beyond. We’re looking forward to supporting this great cause with all of you on Sept 15 th !
Again, thank you for your continued participation and support.
