The Boston Ski Show gets everyone excited for winter. During the show, our snowmakers were busy on the hill preparing for Opening Day on Friday, November 17th.   We are planning a passholder appreciation afternoon on Thursday, November 16th. The Valley House Quad will turn from noon until 4pm, offering skiing and riding on Upper Snowball and Spring Fling.  Castlerock Pub will be open on Thursday, and on Friday, we will add the Gate House cafeteria during the day and Rumble’s Kitchen in the evening. Snowmaking temperatures will be more marginal this week, so we will be staying higher on the mountain with our focus on Upper Jester, Downspout and Valley Traverse. We hope to have these trails open soon. As always, the snow report is the best way to get the most up-to-date information on conditions and trail openings. The report is available online, via email, on our Sugarbush App, and over the telephone (802.583.7669).

As you all know, our new RFID gates required us to implement a new piece of media--the SugarXpress Card-- that allows you to pass through our new base-area lift gates.  These plastic cards are more than a piece of plastic; they hold a radio antenna that allows the gate scanner to read the card’s information.  In order for it to be read properly, the SugarXpress Card must be placed in a pocket on your left side between your shoulder and your knee.  While the card does not have your picture on it, your photo will display on our lift screens when scanned, and will show a photo of your last five trips through the gate.  It is important to keep the card separate from anything else or it may not read properly.  Do not put it near your phone, in your wallet, or with a credit card.   It is best to have it completely alone in your pocket.  Punching a hole in the card will invalidate it.  We have posted a Frequently Asked Questions page on our website for your convenience, and it should answer any questions you might have.  Please take a moment to look at it.  If used properly, the SugarXpress card is going to make for a great lift experience.

The SugarXpress Card offers several other features you may find useful:

  • The card displays your name and your skier-day count to your left as you pass through the gates.
  • Once you have a card, you never have to go to the ticket window to purchase another ticket.  You may reload your card in advance, online, and access the best prices.  The most expensive ticket will be the one purchased at the ticket window.
  • Like our previous pass media, SugarXpress cards can be loaded with Resort Charge, so you do not have to carry another credit card with you. Resort Charge is valid resort-wide, with the following exceptions: Allyn’s Lodge, Waffle Cabin, Fit To Be Thai’d, and our new Gate House coffee kiosk.

Our Quad Packs are on sale, but only through midnight on November 30th. Quad Packs represent the best value if you are not a season passholder.  For $229 (plus tax), you receive four transferrable, non-refundable tickets that are valid every day of the 2017/2018 season.  Quad Pack tickets reflect a discount of more than 50% off the most expensive window rate.
Our team is excited to get the season started this week, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone on the slopes very soon. We also hope to see many of you at this Saturday’s Big Kicker celebration at American Flatbread’s Lareau Farm.
