We're on the cusp of the 2015/16 winter season. Opening Day is currently scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, weather dependent. We will likely be downloading on Super Bravo, but if we get a few days of colder temperatures we will be in a position to make snow to the bottom. While we've had some windows to make snow, the warmer weather we've seen in between, as well as the temperature inversions, have prevented us from providing the conditions we would have liked.
While the lifts won't be spinning this weekend, we do plan to open Timbers Restaurant for daily service this Friday and Castlerock Pub from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Saturday. Fit to be Thai'd, our new Thai Restaurant in the Sugarbush Inn is serving authentic Thai food six nights a week. And we're kicking off the season with Mad River Glen at The Big Kicker at American Flatbread on Saturday at 5 PM -- flatbread, local beer, games, rail jams, and film premiers for all ages.
I also want to take a few moments to thank everyone who purchased Season Passes this year. Most returning Season Passholders do not need to stop by our Season Pass Office -- your pass from last year will let you head right to the lifts. Exceptions to this include College Passholders (who are required to bring a college enrollment form), Seasonal Program Passholders (who will receive new passes with their discounts built-in), and resort staff affiliated with a company other than Sugarbush (including valet and bus drivers, restaurant and medical partners).
As most of you know, we have replaced the old Valley House Double with a new Doppelmayr Quad. The new lift passed its load test and we are just awaiting final state inspection. This lift should go a long way in alleviating the initial morning lines on holidays, and spread traffic out more efficiently on the hill. I think many of us are going to appreciate the lift-loading on the downhill side of the Valley House, and the larger and safer unload area at the top.
We've made several other significant resort upgrades. We purchased a new Pisten Bully groomer for our fleet, made electrical upgrades to six lifts, added another 75 low-energy snow guns, and replaced over one mile of snowmaking pipe. We have changed our operating plan at Mt. Ellen and will open Green Mountain Express at 8:00 AM every morning once Mt. Ellen opens on December 18th. This should be welcome news to those early birds looking to take some runs before work or before crowds start to arrive.
Finally, we've added a number of new seasonal lockers per popular request. We'll have lockers available for both individuals and families in a newly-upgraded location in Clay Brook next to the General Store. The rental period will start December 7th and run through the end of the season.
I look forward to seeing some of you on Opening Day on the mountain, or in Timbers for Thanksgiving.
