“You can’t miss it. In the summer, it’s the beating heart of the Mad River Valley.”
-Alan, Moretown VT
One of the distinguishing factors of the Mad River Valley is the synergistic relationship between its residents, farmers, and visiting tourists. The farmers and local breweries/distilleries in the valley have expanded to distribute their produce throughout the state and beyond, but take great pride in their local market and consumers. Residents of the valley share the same enthusiasm in supporting their neighbors.
From May 19th through October 13th, the historic Waitsfield Farmers’ Market takes place rain or shine on Saturday mornings from 9AM to 1PM on the Mad River Green. From local meat to a massage chair from Mad River Massage, local honey to blown glass from Mad River Glass Company, pickled fiddleheads to locally spun wool, you can find all things Mad River Valley at the market. Framed art, cheeses, pies, furniture, food trucks, and wood-fired pizza: the market is large enough to spend the whole day mingling and browsing, but quaint enough that it doesn’t feel like a fair. There is live music and every Saturday you can find a special seasonal offering such as cider-pressing, autumnal peony tubers, a horse drawn carriage ride, yoga classes, and more fun for the whole family (including the occasional adoptable dog).
Interested in distributing a product of your own? Before the start of the market, vendor applications are available and new vendors are encouraged to apply.
