Whether it is tree skiing, cliff jumping, hike-to-get-to runs or backcountry ski mountaineering, John Egan lives it. To John, it means pushing his own personal limits.

Skiing with John EganKnown throughout the world for his extreme talent, John has skied 70-degree slopes, hurdled 110 feet through the air, and skied some places he wished he never even tried. Extreme skiing has taught John to persevere and focus acutely. It has taught him that the only real obstacles in life are those self-imposed.

Johns dream began as a little boy in the family driveway in a Boston suburb. He discovered the thrill of big air from a flying jump off a picnic table atop an adjacent hill. That was only the beginning. In the seventies, John made Sugarbush, Vermont his home. In the era of the ski bum, he did it better than anyone - washing dishes by night, competing and racing in the pro tour by day. Discovered by master of the film industry, Warren Miller, John quickly became a regular in ski films, and was referred to by Miller as the ATV of skiers - the boldest and most innovative to come along.

During the early eighties, John honed his skills in Chamonix, France with all-time skiing great, Patrick Valacent. In 1988 John was joined by brother Dan, and the Egan Brothers went on to dominate ski magazines and films worldwide. They have directed and produced numerous award-winning films. As dynamic spokesmen and advocates for the sport, the Egan Brothers have been featured in commercials, advertisements, and promotions both in and out of the ski industry.

Continuing to pursue his love of steep, deep, and untracked terrain, skiing is John's way of life. He has achieved over 30 first descents in remote locations such as Greenland, Siberia, Turkey and Romania. Whether John is teaching extreme clinics in Chile, Wyoming, British Columbia, France or Vermont, its not just about skiing. What sets John apart from a generation reared on a bungee cord is his desire to help others achieve their personal goals - not just wow them. Egan’s passion for skiing is infectious. His attitude is everything.

John's love to share his experiences with others has lead to the creation of John Egan's Big World Pub and Grill in Waitsfield, Vermont. Not only is the food World Class, but the atmosphere and collection of Memorabilia plastered all around you makes the whole experience. A sign over the front door says, Sit long, Talk Much, so come by for a visit, grab an Extreme Ale.

Best ski run in the world It depends on the day you ask me, right now a run in Greenland I named Dessert comes to mind.
Most exotic place ever skied The most exotic place I’ve skied was down the side of an active Volcano in the Russian Peninsula of Kamchatka after feasting with the worlds last tribe of nomadic Reindeer herders!
Describe your dream adventure To climb one side of a mountain range, ski down the other side - jump in a raft and white water a couple of days to a tropical beach. As I jump onboard an awaiting yacht, the wind whips up and I sail away
