Meet The Ski Pros
John Egan
Adventure Learning Center Director
They say he was born on a mountain and raised in a cave because skiing and climbing are all that he craves! Although, he is often seen on his Harley or sailing across Lake Champlain on his Narca cat.
In 1976, when John first moved to Sugarbush, Vermont, he was following his desire to find his limits as a skier. He hasn't stopped yet.
In 1979, after competing at the local level for three years, he joined the pro racing tour and also filmed at Sugarbush for an upcoming Warren Miller film. John also competed on the World Pro Mogul Tour for several years and became one Warren Miller's regulars in his famous ski films. Warren called him, not only one of his "ATV skiers," but also "the boldest, most innovative skier to come along."
John spent several years travelling in Europe and honed his skills for steeps in Chamonix, France where he met his lifelong ski hero, Patrick Vallencant.
In 1988, John was joined by his brother, Dan, and the "Egan Brothers" dominated ski magazines and films worldwide. They eventually started making their own award winning films and continue to today.
Over the years, John has accumulated nine first descents in remote places such as Siberia and Greenland. He has skied down peaks that others thought were unskiable!
As director of the Sugarbush Adventure Learning Center, John continues to lead groups and also pays special attention to the First Time Skier/Rider Program.
