First thing you notice when the snow flies is – wow, where did everyone go? Follow the tire tracks and the snowplows up the hill and there’s your answer. We’ve vanished up the steeps in whichever of our two awesome ski areas (shhhh! no crowds!) feels more spectacular that day. Take your pick of 111 trails, 2600 vertical feet, blessed by an average snowfall of 269” every year.
Sugarbush rules with every kind of terrain from friendly to downright nasty. Go classic with Castlerock – an old-school ski area complete with double chair and snaky, sinuous runs. Expect intense rocky and gladed terrain that pretty much defines the New England downhill rush. Lighten up for family hour with the wide, gentle slopes of Lincoln Peak – with phenomenal views soaring all the way to Whiteface and Mt. Mansfield.
Cook things back up again at Slide Brook (the most notorious off-piste in the north east). Right next door, there’s Mt. Ellen for monster steeps and super long cruising runs. Work on your aerials or trick it up at the terrain park. There’s also awesome Nordic (or snowshoeing) wherever you go.
And that’s just a taste of skiing in the valley. We’re not a legend for nothing…
