Sugarbush Snow Blazers meet every Saturday and Sunday from 9:15 AM (with a 9:30 AM departure) until 3:00 PM, 12/10/11-03/25/12, excluding 12/24 and 12/25. Snow Blazers are encouraged to attend every session to maximize learning and group consistency.
The goal of the program is to develop kid's all-mountain skiing abilities. Specific activities for each group vary based on ability level and conditions. Snow Blazers spend time on the trails, the race course, terrain parks, bumps, and off-piste, building the foundation for a lifelong love of skiing, and the skills to pursue specialized areas of skiing like: Egan's Adventure Blazers, Mountaineering Blazers, Race Blazers and Diamond Dogs.
Blazers must be Level III skiers, able to ride a chair lift unassisted, ski beginner terrain unassisted and stop on their own. They should be moving continuously, flowing with the terrain and not skiing with the "brakes on" in a wedge.
Please see Skiing Levels for Sugarbush Blazer Groupings for more information. Having balanced groups is vital to the success of the program, new participants need to attend one of the first two weekends in December. New Blazers will have their skiing/riding evaluated by the coaching staff, so they can be put in the correct group at the very beginning of the season.
If you cannot attend these sessions, please consider a Schoolhouse season pass as another option. All children will be evaluated on the first day of the program. If your child is not skiing at Level III yet, parents have three options:
All Snow Blazers must have a Sugarbush All Mountain Pass.
Snow Blazers includes a NASTAR Race Arena season pass and a 20% cafeteria food discount for use on program weekends.
Program registration ends 11/30/11.
