Vermont Symphony Orchestra outdoor concert at Sugarbush starts Independence Day weeklong celebration 

 

WARREN, VERMONT (June 25, 2012) - The Vermont Symphony Orchestra will give a special outdoor performance followed by fireworks at Sugarbush Resort on Friday, June 29, 2012, beginning the Independence Day week on a musical note.

Conductor Andrew Massey presents an evening of musical smiles, featuring selections that are joyful, witty, wacky, and fun. The evening will conclude with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and a fireworks display.

Gates will open at the Lincoln Peak base area at 5:30 pm for picnicking on the grass, with the concert slated to begin at 7:30 pm. In the event of rain, the performance will be moved into the Gate House lodge.

Tickets are $31 in advance, or $34 at the gate. Children under age 18 are free with any purchase of a ticket in advance, or $11 at the gate. To purchase a ticket, call (800) 53-SUGAR.

The VSO performance kicks off the weeklong Independence Day calendar at Sugarbush, which includes activities throughout the area.

 

The celebration continues on Saturday, June 30th with Jim Parker's Stars and Stripes Charity Airshow. The show will feature stunt flying, airplane rides, music, food and drinks, all to benefit Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation. Gates open at 11 am, with the airshow starting at 1 pm. Hogan's Pub at the Sugarbush Resort Golf Club will host a lobster dinner on Saturday, June 30th. Overlooking the 18th green at the spectacular Robert Trent Jones Sr. course, Hogan's deck and dining room have one of the most scenic views in the area. For reservations, call 802-583-6723.

On Wednesday, July 4th the annual Warren 4th of July Parade and Festival returns to the Vermont village for the 64th consecutive year. The parade is scheduled to start at 10 am. Later that day Sugarbush will host an outdoor barbeque with Jimmy Yozell performing live outside the Castlerock Pub. Sugarbush will be offering zipline rides, scenic chair lift rides, mountain biking and much more. A fireworks display will begin at dusk at Lincoln Peak.

 

The celebration concludes with the 2nd running of the Mad Marathon and half marathon on Sunday, July 8th. The World's Most Beautiful Marathon weaves its way along country and back roads throughout the Mad River Valley and brings some 2000 racers and spectators to the Valley.
