Vermont Symphony Orchestra outdoor concert at Sugarbush starts Independence Day weekend with a bang!
WARREN, VERMONT (June 29, 2011) – Beginning the Independence Day weekend on a festive note, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra will give a special outdoor performance followed by fireworks at Sugarbush Resort on Friday, July 1, 2011.
Conductor Anthony Princiotti will lead the VSO performance through a program that begins with the “Star Spangled Banner,” features a special Duke Ellington tribute, and concludes with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
Gates will open at the Lincoln Peak base area at 5 pm for picnicking on the grass, with the concert slated to start at 7:30 pm. In the event of rain, the performance will be moved into the Gate House lodge.
Tickets are $31 in advance, or $34 at the gate. Children under age 18 are free with any purchase of a ticket in advance, or $11 at the gate. To purchase a ticket, call (800) 53-SUGAR.
The VSO performance kicks off the Independence Day calendar at Sugarbush, which includes activities throughout the area and concludes with the traditional firework display at the mountain on Monday evening at dusk.
On Saturday night, Hogan’s Pub at the Sugarbush Resot Golf Club will host their annual lobster dinner. Overlooking the 18th green at the spectacular Robert Trent Jones Sr. course, Hogan’s deck and dining room have one of the most scenic views in the area. Reservations recommended. On Sunday, an Independence Day Airshow at the Warren Airfield will feature stunt flying, airplane rides, music, food and drinks, all to benefit Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation. Gates open at 11 am, with the airshow starting at 1 pm. Tickets for the event are $8 in advance, or $10 at the gate. Children are $5, though kids under 5 are free. On Monday, the annual Warren 4th of July Parade and Festival returns to the classic Vermont village for the 63nd consecutive year. The parade is scheduled to start at 10 am, Warren time. For more information, go to http://www.facebook.com/mad.river.vermont.
After the parade, Sugarbush will host an artisan’s market at Lincoln Peak starting at noon. At the same time, Sugarbush will be offering zipline rides, scenic chair lift rides, mountain biking and much more. An outdoor barbeque will be hosted, with Jimmy Yozell performing live outside the Castlerock Pub. Sugarbush’s dazzling fireworks display will start at dusk (approximately 9:45 pm).
