Sugarbush Resort Golf Club welcomes Dave Pfannenstein as new Assistant Golf Pro

SUGARBUSH, VT. (April 25, 2011) – Sugarbush Resort Golf Club today named Dave Pfannenstein their new assistant golf professional.

A veteran of resort golf management and instruction, Pfannenstein most recently served as Killington’s Director of Golf, where he worked for 13 seasons.

“We’re extremely pleased to have Dave join our team at Sugarbush,” said R.J. Austin, Sugarbush Director of Golf. “His strong golf background and dedication to customer service will be valuable assets to us as we continue to refine the Sugarbush golf experience.”

A Class A Member of the PGA for 21 years, Pfannenstein first came to Vermont in the spring of 1986 to teach at The Original Golf School in Mount Snow, where he taught during the summer for 3 years. His first head professional position was also in Vermont, at the Tater Hill Golf Club in Londonderry in 1989. And in 1991, he accepted the head pro position at Crown Point C.C. in Springfield, VT.

“I am looking forward to joining the Sugarbush team to provide a great golf experience for both members and guests. Customer service has been and will continue to be a high priority for me,” said Pfannenstein.

Pfannenstein was raised as a hockey player in his hometown of St. Louis Park, Minn. After playing two years of Jr. A hockey for Iowa’s Sioux City Musketeers (78-79), he attended Minnesota’s St. Cloud State University on a hockey scholarship (80-83). He played with the Sun Valley Suns in 1984, before taking his first assistant golf pro job at Idaho’s Elkhorn Resort.

Pfannenstein and his wife Shari own a home in Rutland, Vermont, and spend their winters on the west coast of Florida in the small town of Homosassa.

Shari Pfannenstein shares her husband’s love for the game of golf. A 10-handicap golfer with an extensive background as a golf rules official, Shari was recently invited to officiate her third U.S. Women’s Open Golf Championship (July 4-10 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo.).
