Sugarbush Hosts Annual Pond Skimming Event

04/03/2017

Warren, VT (April 3, 2017) – Sugarbush Resort hosts one of the longest running, if not the longest running, pond skimming events in the country. Since 1969, Sugarbush has challenged guests to plunge across a pond on their skis or snowboards.

This year’s event is Saturday, April 8th at the base of Lincoln Peak. Registration begins at 8:00 AM at the Castlerock Pub. Only the first 110 people in line will receive a bib to participate. Registration is $20 and is cash only.

Many guests consider an attempt to skim the 120-foot pond an Annual Rite of Spring. However, spectators usually have as much fun as the participants watching the wildly dressed contestants barrel down the mountain.

The event will kick off with Sugarbush’s Owner and President, Win Smith, skimming across the pond at noon. Prizes will be awarded to the contestants with the best costume, best style and biggest splash.
