Sugarbush Community Weekend Celebration Offers Fun for the Whole Family

Warren, VT (October 6, 2015)­ – Community Weekend, Sugarbush Resort’s celebration of autumn in Vermont, is not your ordinary October festival. The celebration, packed with fun for the entire family – including the dog – includes Community Day on October 10th and Oktoberfest on October 11th at Lincoln Peak.

Saturday kicks off with the Warren Fire Department Community Breakfast from 7:30AM – 10AM at the Sugarbush Village Firehouse. The Warren Fire Department will be serving up pancakes, bacon, sausage, fruit, and baked goods with a suggested donation of $10 per person. This event kicks off a capital campaign for the fire department to enhance its fleet and upgrade some of its operations.

Up at the resort, complimentary Cabot Cheddar cheese, Vermont apples, and Mountain Grove coffee will be offered from 9AM – 11AM at the Sunrise Café in The Farmhouse. Kids can enjoy mountain activities and Adventure Camps, with activities like a morning hike (ages 6-12), fall arts and crafts projects, and recreation time. Check-in for the camps (ages 3-12) is at The Schoolhouse at 9:45 AM and runs 10AM – 2PM for $5/family. Additionally, John Egan and Sugarbush coaches will be hosting a free bike clinic for kids of all ages from 1PM – 3PM.

Win Smith, President of Sugarbush Resort, will give his annual presentation starting at 10AM in Gate House Lodge.

From 11:15AM – 2:30 PM, a Winter 2015/16 Product Preview will be held in the Lincoln Peak Courtyard, showing off the latest products for the ski season. A Sugarbush Partners Exposition will run concurrently from 12PM – 3PM.

A Children’s Book Reading by a local author will be offered at 12PM, 1PM, and 2PM in the General Store. A guided Dog-Friendly Family Hike is offered at 12:30PM beginning at The Farmhouse. Pumpkin carving for kids will once again be available in The Schoolhouse beginning at 1PM.

Sugarbush Executive Chef Gerry Nooney will host a Harvest Dinner in the Gate House Lodge from 6PM – 8PM. Castlerock Pub will be open for lunch from 11AM – 5PM, and the pizza oven and grill will be operating 11AM – 3PM in the Gate House Courtyard. Live music will be available from 11AM – 3PM, and again during the Harvest Dinner.

On Sunday, October 11th, the resort will host its third Oktoberfest. This traditional Oktoberfest will feature a Von Trapp Beer Garden, brats, sausages, and wood-fired pizza from 11AM – 3PM and in Gate House Courtyard.  Live music from the Mad Bavarian Band will run from 12PM – 3PM. Fun and games for the whole family--including cabbage bowling, apple press, pumpkin checkers and keg toss--will be offered. A cornhole tournament will take place starting at 1PM in the Gate House Courtyard ($10/person). Castlerock Pub will serve lunch from 11AM – 5PM and Timbers Restaurant will serve dinner from 5PM – 9PM.

Mountain Activities will be offered 10AM – 4PM through Columbus Day. The Adventure Gear Shop and the General Store will be open 9AM – 4PM, and the Lincoln Peak Season Pass Office will be open 10AM – 4PM for skiers and riders to pick up their winter season passes.
