Sugarbush Community Weekend Celebration Boasts Fun For the Whole Family

Warren, VT (October 3, 2014)­ – Community Weekend, Sugarbush Resort’s celebration of autumn in Vermont, is not your ordinary October festival. The celebration, packed with fun for the entire family--including the dog--will take place with Community Day on October 11th and Family Oktoberfest on October 12th at Lincoln Peak.

Saturday kicks off with complimentary cheese, apples, and coffee from 9AM – 11AM at the Sunrise Café in The Farmhouse. A winter product preview will take place from 9AM to 3PM with tabling and schwag from Oakley, Scott, Under Armour/Seirus, Smith, Giro, Gordini, Skida, Owl Bars, Gaylord Maple Products, and Elmore Mountain Farm. The Adventure Gear Shop will also be holding a clearance sale from 9:30AM – 5PM with up to 75% off on 2013-14 products.

Scenic lift rides will be available from 10AM – 4PM and are complimentary for passholders ($15/adult, $10/youth non-passholders). Kids can enjoy mountain activities, as well as Adventure Camps including activities like a morning hike (ages 6-12), fall arts and crafts projects and recreation time. Check-in for the camps (ages 3-12) is at The Schoolhouse at 9:45 AM and runs 10AM – 2PM for $5 a family. Additionally, John Egan and Sugarbush coaches will be hosting a free bike clinic for kids of all ages from 1PM – 3PM. Included in the coaching staff is Sugarbush sponsored athlete, Ali Zimmer, who was recently named to the USA Cycling World Championship Team.

Win Smith, President of Sugarbush Resort, will give his annual presentation starting at 10AM in Gate House Lodge.

The Mad River Valley Ambulance Service will be providing free car seat checks in the Lincoln Peak Parking Lot from 11AM – 3PM.

A Sugarbush Partners Exposition will take place from 12PM – 4PM in the courtyard at Lincoln Peak Village. Plain Jayne will provide live music from 11AM – 3PM on the Timbers Patio.

Sugarbush Executive Chef Gerry Nooney will host a harvest autumn barbecue in the courtyard from 11AM – 3PM. Castlerock Pub will be open for lunch from 11AM – 8PM and Timbers Restaurant will be open for dinner from 5PM – 9PM (reservations recommended).

A perennial favorite, the guided Dog-Friendly Family Hike, is a great opportunity to strut your mutt, beginning at 12:30PM – 1:30PM starting at The Farmhouse. Pumpkin carving will once again be available in The Schoolhouse from 1PM – 3PM.

On Sunday, October 12th, Sugarbush will host its second Family Oktoberfest. This traditional Oktoberfest will feature a family-friendly Bavarian buffet from 12PM – 2PM and a Von Trapp Beer Garden from 12PM – 3PM.

Live music from Opa’s Oompah Band, a four piece Bavarian-style band, will be performed from 12PM – 3PM. Fun and games for the whole family including Dux The Balloon Man, cabbage bowling, pumpkin checkers, kids obstacle course and a keg toss will all be running from 11AM – 3PM.
