Sugarbush Resort Hosts Food and Wine Summer Sampler

Warren, VT (July 27, 2015) – Sugarbush Resort will host the first ever Sugarbush Food and Wine Sampler on Saturday, August 22nd. The sampler will be the first of four, with others coming in December of 2015, and March and August of 2016, all of which will lead into the first Sugarbush Food & Wine Festival September 30th – October 2nd, 2016.

The sampler will consist of two events featuring specialty wines and local foods. The Food and Wine Sampler opens in Gate House Lodge at 1:00 PM with an afternoon of fifteen wine samplings, three food pairings, as well as culinary demonstrations hosted by Tom Bivens, Executive Director of the Vermont Cheese Council, and Courtney Contos of Chef Contos’ Kitchen – named one of the world’s top cooking schools by Food and Wine Magazine. The afternoon sampler will also feature special guest vintners and wine merchants: Mark Tarlov of Evening Land Vineyards, Lisa Strausser of Kermit Lynch Wines, Jim Elston of Chemin des Vins, Ian Dick of Loosen Brothers Imports, Joyce Hulm of Old Bridge Cellars, and Joerg Klauck of Vermont Wine Merchants. The event runs until 4 PM at Lincoln Peak at Sugarbush, and tickets are priced at $40/person.

The second event, Under the Stars at Allyn’s Lodge, begins with an early-evening chairlift ride to the top of Gadd Peak at 6:00 PM. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and wine hosted by sommelier Bruce Hyde of Timbers Restaurant, and joined by the same wine experts featured in the afternoon’s sampler. The evening culminates with a rustic Vermont family-style dinner paired with wines from a host of featured vineyards, served outdoors under the stars. Each select wine merchant and guest vintner will bring several bottles from their personal collections to share at dinner. Limited tickets are available to this event, and priced at $100/person.
