Billz 4 Skillz Finals
Warren, VT (March 11, 2009)- The laws of physics and flight will be defied this Saturday as some of the best terrain park specialists descend on Sugarbush for the Finals of the Billz 4 Skillz Series. The season-long competition kicked off on December 13th as part of Sugarbush’s 50th Birthday Bash and has seen close to 100 participants compete in three different events. Saturday’s Final is by invitation only and will see the best of the best competing for a Grand cash prize.
The Billz 4 Skillz Series, the brainchild of the Sugarbush Parks crew, marks the first time in recent memory a season-long competition has had such high participation.
'It’s been incredible,' remarked Tony Chiuchiolo, head of Terrain Park operations at Sugarbush. 'We’ve had some of the region’s best skiers and riders competing throughout the season and that helps bring in more participants. Plus, having some major sponsors support the series really elevates the value of the prizes and overall excitement for the event. The bottom line is that everybody, from spectators to competitors, has had a great time.'
Thirty-nine invitations were sent out for this Saturday’s final competition in four divisions: Women’s Open, Men’s Ski Open, Snowboard 15 and under (Groms), and Snowboard 16 and older. And Chuichiolo and his crew are expecting a large turn out.
'The forecast for this Saturday is sunshine and blue skies,' said Chuichiolo 'And with a ton of gear and product to toss into the crowd and cash prizes for top competitors, we expect to have a great crowd.'
The invitation-only event starts at 12:00 p.m. this Saturday, March 14 in the Riemergasse Terrain Park at Mt. Ellen. Competitor check-in is from 9:00-10:30 a.m.
