Thank you Grace Potter

Grace Potter at Sugarbush Resort VermontThank you, Grace, for an outstanding acoustic performance yesterday. You were spectacular! And your presence in Vermont this past week helped raise a lot of money for many flood-relief organizations.

Thank you also to the many members of the Sugarbush community who have donated so generously to the Mad River Valley Community Fund. We raised over $210,000 at the Grace Potter Benefit Brunch alone.

The Mad River Valley Community Fund has now received over $860,000 since Irene and has already dispersed approximately $180,000. They are close to reaching their goal of $1 million, and I hope that all who have not yet donated to the Fund will consider a gift to this 501 (c)3 charity that is helping our Valley neighbors, small businesses, and farmers get back on their feet.

I also want to thank Mother Nature for a spectacular Columbus Day weekend. The weather could not have been better and the foliage really came to life. Parts of the hillsides on higher elevations have reached peak color, but there are still many areas around the Valley where the reds and oranges are still just beginning to pop. Thousands of people flocked to Vermont this weekend, which was wonderful for an economy that is still bouncing-back after Irene. It was good for so many to see that Vermont is indeed open for business.

The work on our snowmaking ponds is progressing well and we should complete the excavation on both ponds by the end of tomorrow. We will then be shoring up the embankment on the upstream side of the Mad River pond, restoring the electrical lines that were torn down by Irene, and then refilling the pond so that snowmaking can begin in early November soon as temperatures allow.

Many thanks to all who have purchased season passes and enrolled in our seasonal programs. Once again we have seen substantial growth in all categories of passes and programs.

SugarDirect is now on sale and available through December 6th. For only $99 you can receive a direct-to-lift access card that allows discounts of 20-25% off our regular day-ticket pricing. If you plan to ski more than two and less than a dozen days this winter, the SugarDirect is the way to go.

Thanks to all of you who came up this weekend. I look forward to seeing you on the snow before much longer. We are targeting Saturday, November 19th as opening day at Lincoln Peak.
