The "fat lady" has not sung yet but she is warming up. We had a nice weekend of skiing and riding -- on Saturday on Spring Fling and Stein's and on Sunday on Stein's. Both were freshly groomed. And we ran the Lincoln Limo on Saturday so that our guests could ski Spring Fling.
Upper Snowball was just too bare on the "rock garden" to get down even on foot. Judging from the feedback of the few hundred people who were here, everyone really appreciated riding the Lincoln Limo and having the chance to enjoy a final day on the Fling. By 2:30 in the afternoon, however, the snow was just too soft and thin and rutty to keep the Limo running, so now we are down to Stein's unless we get a dump. Yesterday Stein's softened up around 11 AM and I had some nice soft turns for day 96.
We will not be operating midweek but plan to assess our conditions on Thursday and make the call for the weekend. If we open, it will be the final weekend of the season. At day's end, we can gather at the top of Stein's and sing Kate Smith's favorite tune (I am sure you all know which one that is!). If some of you diehards want to ski midweek, go and support our Vermont brethren at Jay Peak and Killington who, I believe, will be open midweek. The state of Vermont can use all the revenue it can get after Irene and a tough winter.
Whether or not we are open (and I think it is probable that we will be), our Easter Sunday non-denominational service will be held as planned, led by "The Rev" from Norwich University.
Easter Egg Hunt 2011.
We will have a festive Easter Egg Hunt and our special springtime Easter meal in Timbers. It will be delicious!
Hope to see you next weekend and don't forget to buy your passes for next season no later than May 2nd in order to get the best pricing. Prices are the same as last year!
