After seven straight days of snowmaking, summer returned for a few days and we hit 70 degrees yesterday. Prior to the warm-up we had a really good base on Upper Jester and Downspout, and Upper Organgrinder was coming-in well, too. We had also made some snow around the base area and behind Valley House and at the intersection of Coffee Run and Organgrinder, preparing to march all the way down when it was cold enough at the base to finish snowmaking.
The past few days have done their damage though and we lost quite a bit of snow. But cold temperatures returned early this morning and it looks like we picked up a couple of inches at the summit. Our snowmakers will be back at it today at least above mid-mountain and the forecast should allow us to open on schedule this Saturday. I am not sure whether we will have sufficient hours of cold temperatures down low to be top-to-bottom, but we will make every attempt to do so. If not, we will be downloading on Bravo and skiing on Upper Jester, Downspout and Upper Organgrinder. I think that you will be pleased with the product. Let winter begin!
Don't forget to join us at the Big Picture theater on Saturday evening for the Big Kicker party to celebrate the start of our 2012/13 season.
