After nearly ten years of owning Sugarbush, I finally had the opportunity to be a "real guest." Lili (Ruane) and I were married at Sugarbush on August 11th, and what a magical event it was. . .
Two days prior to the wedding, we hosted a party for our team at Sugarbush, with the band Little Feat playing for everyone. The wedding ceremony was held at the top of Gate House lift. What a spectacular setting it was! Paul Winter treated us to his music. Rumble and Zoe (Lili's dog) participated as well. Afterwards our guests rode down the lift to a reception in the plaza outside Timbers and a dinner was held on the second floor of Gate House Lodge. The Vermont Jazz Ensemble entertained us through dinner and played our first dance, and Motor Booty Affair rocked afterwards.
Gerry Nooney and his team prepared a wonderful meal using mostly local and some hyper-local foods. It is blueberry season here and for dessert Gerry offered a luscious blueberry cobbler made from berries grown in the Valley.
Our friends came from such far away places as Argentina, Toronto, Hawaii, Florida, Oregon and California and from as nearby as Warren. The evening ended with surprise fireworks (thank you, Tiffany Bailey and Pierce Kiniry) and a late-night snack from American Flatbread, who set up their oven outside Timbers.
All delighted in the beauty of the mountain on that August day and by the superb service and delicious food delivered by team Sugarbush.
Last winter on a perfect powder day, I said that the reason I owned Sugarbush could be expressed in one word, "today." Well, last Thursday, August 11th, Lili and I reiterated this. "Today" is the reason we are here at Sugarbush.
