March is here and tomorrow will be my 70th day of skiing this winter. Tomorrow also marks the 70% point of the season. That means we still have 30% of our ski season yet to come. And you all know that some of the best skiing and riding can occur in March and April.
Snow is expected to begin tonight and to continue through most of the day tomorrow. Accumulation could approach nearly a foot at the summits. I think tomorrow and Friday are going to be fantastic days to be out here on the slopes, and it will be a great way to begin the month of March.
I am less optimistic about Saturday. We may have a quick freezing rain or rain event ending with snow showers Saturday night, which will make Sunday another nice day. What we have learned this winter, however, is that you never know what the day will bring unless you are here. As I have said before, there is never a bad day of skiing -- just bad equipment. So I plan to be on the hill on Saturday regardless of what form the precipitation takes.
March is filled with fun events and it is my favorite month here at Sugarbush. Cool nights, hopefully some nice spring snow, warmer days and longer sunlight really make for a great time. We will have our annual St. Patrick's Day party at Mt. Ellen on Friday the 16th. As is our tradition, we are offering a special day ticket at Mt. Ellen for only $17. There will be plenty of leprechauns and green drinks to add to the merriment. And don't forget our Castlerock Extreme, Dummy Big Air, and Pond Skimming.
Join me for some powder runs over the next few days.
