Sweet Corn - Sugarbush Stoke Exchange

Thursday, April 3, 2014

Spring delivers two quintessential VT products, of course maple syrup is the first, followed closely by incredible corn snow. Thankfully, the best conditions for maple sugar production, warm days and cool nights, are the same for a good corn harvest.

Since the deep winter freeze finally broke last week, we've been enjoying a sweet stretch of great spring turns. The sap is running steadily and the first batches are getting bottled and canned right now.

The maple season is a little late this year, which also delayed the transition from dry snow to corn, but everything is in full swing. Lincoln Peak is 100% open, including much of the off-piste. Due to the incredible base depths, we are excited to share some extra special treats this weekend.

Mt. Ellen is re-opening April 5th-6th for a special Passholder Appreciation weekend!
Mt. Ellen is re-opening for a special Passholder Appreciation weekend! GMX will run 9 AM - 5 PM and other lifts will run 10 AM - 4 PM.

On top of the awesome terrain and views, we will be celebrating two of Mt. Ellen's traditions, racing and freestyle. Join us on Sunday for a ski training session with Warren-based Sochi Olympian Nolan Kaspar

The award-winning Riemergasse Park will be also open for a final hurrah. Starting next week, Sugarbush Parks will build a new park on Racer's Edge at Lincoln Peak to finish out the rest of the season. With so much snow, we are likely to roll right through April and maybe into May.

We hope to have every trail open this weekend, although there is a slight chance that Lower FIS and its feeder trails might be closed. Slide Brook lift will not be running, but there will be bus service between the base areas. Speaking of Slide Brook, the basin is still full of snow, too. Get your last bus rides!

Saturday looks like we may get some snow, and Sunday should be anideal spring days, with temps in the 40's and a mix of sun and clouds. Remember the sunblock and your smiles, it's going to be sweet.
