With a few inches of fresh accumulation and snow-preserving temps, winter has dominated at Sugarbush this week. The sun is back though and today, Friday and Saturday look like ideal spring skiing and riding days. It is so good, we can even use "epic" without stretching the truth.
Coverage remains excellent, the snowpack is about the deepest it's been all season. As of this morning, the upper mountain still had dry powdery pockets in the shade.
David Babic finds his spot in the sun.
Last year at this time, we only had Stein's and Coffee Run open, and had been riding dry bike trails for a couple of weeks in the Valley. In stark contrast, we are likely to have close to 100 trails this weekend. That's right, MT Ellen is reopening on Saturday for a passholder appreciation day ... don't miss this last chance to carve the MEllen.
When the sap is running, the turns are probably sweet.
Speaking of Ellen, the upper portion of the Sunny D terrain park is still in place for the weekend. Also, the Parks crew is busy building a whole new area on Racer's Edge at Lincoln Peak to finish out the season. Be sure to check it out.
Winter ruled this week.
Blue skies and great snow for the win.
Over 100 trails this weekend?
Pond Skimming last weekend was held under nearly perfect conditions. If you missed it, don't worry, there are 358 days to prepare for the next one.
Pond skim posse.
Right on cue ... Saucer Boy.
He carved turns, splashed the judges and still made it.
Coach Suzie turning up the volume today.
Coach Russ pulling the Ripcord, with class in tow.
Spring skiing and riding are at their peak now. Join us for a great weekend of turns.
