While we haven't had a lot of new snow this week so far, each dusting has kept things looking and skiing great. Dave Ski-more, one of my favorite Sugarbush coaches, shared this truism, which sums it up well, "A little is way more than none." That said, we expect some new accumulation tonight, which should set us up for a great sunny weekend.
Even without any fresh flakes, the mountain is already in sweet shape. You can go pretty much anywhere and there is still a lot of soft snow. These are the type of conditions that we dream about in November, so remember to enjoy it now.
Egan on point.
Saturday looks awesome for the 16th Annual Castlerock Challenge, and we have a strong field of competitors showing up from around the region. Pre-registration has closed, but there will be 20 spots available on Saturday morning. Better get here early, if you want one.
The Castlerock Challenge is one of the premier events in the Ski The East Freeride Tour, which qualifies winning competitors for the Freeride World Tour. Speaking of the FWT, one of the Mad River Valley's local skiers, Lars Chickering-Ayers, came out of retirement recently and won the 2013 Kirkwood event, in honor of Flyin Ryan Hawks, one of his team-mates and the inspiration behind the Flyin Ryan Foundation.
Castlerock Challenge is Saturday!
There are good spectating areas for the Castlerock Challenge on Hi/Lo Road and Troll Road, plus at the finish on Liftline. The lift itself is the best vantage, but it moves too quickly for extended viewing. There is no better spot to watch someone jump off the big rock face, if you time it right.

Sunday was a little sunny, and it illuminated the tasty snow.

Many thanks to High Fives for a great event last weekend.

Happy Fat Ski-A-Thon'ers. This was the biggest single day fundraising event in High Fives history!

Rice Brook is going up fast.

Winter on the Mad River.

Heaven's Gate is great.

Bush Pilot Chris on a rare mid-week adventure. No wonder she is smiling.
The snow is deep, the mountain is ready. Better be here!
