As we celebrate Presidents' Week, the snow has continued to fall and the turns have been great. Capped with a few inches of fresh, today's bluebird sunny morning may have been the peak moment, so far. The views from Lincoln Peak were spectacular.
What a week! Coach Rick getting peaceful with some Pax powder.
Ready for more? Sugarbush is under another Winter Weather Advisory starting tonight. We are probably going to get a mix of precipitation types, with snow, sleet and freezing rain predicted.
Friday's forecast also calls for strong winds, get ready for a wild one. The storm is supposed to finish as snow, so there is a chance to squeak out a net gain and build base at the same time. Keep doing those snow dances!
Tour De Moon was awesome on Monday, next one is March 15th!
This Sunday is the famous Mad River Valley Ski Mountaineering Race. The competition starts at the bottom of Mad River Glen, racers climb to the top of General Stark Mountain, traverse the Long Trail to Mt. Ellen, drop into Slide Brook, climb out to the Lincoln Peak area and finish at Valley House Lodge.
The Pros add a climb up FIS and to North Lynx, for a total of ~11 miles and 4700' of climb/descent. However, even with additional distance and vertical, the fastest competitors usually finish in about two hours. That's fast!
The High Fives Fat Ski-A-Thon is March 2nd. Sign up now!
Today's 1st Tracks Snow Report.
Coach Darian getting some 1st tracks.
Bear turns on Birch Run.
A slice of ice.
Isabel sliding in Slide Brook.
Adventure Blazer William finding the smooth line in the air.
Luke leaping for a Lincoln Loop.
Put aside your worries about the mixed precipitation. Skiing and riding are always better than sitting home because of a forecast. We've got a great weekend of fun ahead, better be here!
