Here we are in mid-April and the number of true spring ski days is still in the single digits. Winter just doesn't want to quit and today is a perfect example. We started out sunny and warm on the lower half of the mountain, but by evening, it is supposed to be snowing again.
Even some of the conservative forecasts have us getting 2-6 inches by late Friday. It is a complex storm though and we could get twice the predicted amount, or nothing. As soon as we know, we'll let you know. Be prepared.

Last Saturday was the final day at Mount Ellen for the 2012-2013 season and it was a full-on winter experience. Black Diamond barely had any rocks poking through and there was still powder in shady spots. Many thanks to all the staff and Mount Ellen fans!
Black Diamond last weekend. February or ... April?
We still have 49 trails open, including a few natural snow trails too, like Spillsville. Cover on the snowmaking trails is pretty amazing. It is looking quite likely that we will be skiing and riding right through April, with a goal of finishing the season on Cinco De Mayo for one last weekend. That will be 12 days shy of 7 months of skiing. Oh yeah!

The turns are way better now than they were in November. Remember how excited you were for some mountain time back then? Best rediscover that spark, because it's going to be a long summer. Time to squeeze in as many days as possible, before it is gone again.
See you on the mountain.
