The river and brooks have stayed cool this year, perfect for post-adventure refreshment. August often features some of the best local recreation conditions, too.

The VT Festival of the Arts Taste of the Valley was a big success last week. The normally low-key, but busy, evening tends to end quietly after all the food and drinks are done. Not this year, though.

Timbers' manager Bruce Hyde thought of adding an Iron Chef-type competition to finish. The encore proved immediately successful and almost upstaged the main event. The crowd-chosen competitors were Timbers' Chef Todd and the Common Man's Chef Adam.

As the story has an end, so do each day and season. The weather is looking August. Better caesar it.
