Mad River Valley Roads

The entrance and exit into the Valley is via Exit 9 on Route 89, then West on Route 2 for 4 miles, then left on Route 100 South to the Valley. From the West, Route 17 over the App Gap is open, and coming from Huntington, Hinesburg, Charlotte, South Burlington and Shelburne, is a great way into the Valley. German Flats Road has been repaired and Route 100 from Waterbury to Waitsfield is in good shape.

Directions to Sugarbush Post Irene:

Some roads in Vermont were damaged by hurricane Irene but the Sugarbush Area is easily accessed via other routes. Please visit VermontVacations.com for their up-to-date road map detailing the few roadways being rapaired.

Northbound directions from Albany and points south and west:

Take I-87 Northway to Exit 20, go northeast to NY Route149 to Route 4 North. At Comstock, take Route 22, then Route 22A into Vermont. Follow Route 22A to Addison, then take Route 17 North through Bristol and over the Appalachian Gap. Turn right on German Flats Road, then right on Sugarbush Access Road (look for the Sugarbush Resort Area sign). NOTE: Sections of Vermont Routes 4 and 7 south of Warren are temporarily closed for repair.

Southbound directions from Burlington or Montreal:

Take I-89 South to Exit 10 Waterbury. Follow Route 2 south through Waterbury to Route 100 South. Follow 100 South through Waitsfield. Turn right onto the Sugarbush Access Road (look for the Sugarbush Resort Area sign).

Northbound directions from New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and points south:

Take I-89 North to Exit 10 Waterbury. Follow Route 2 south through Waterbury to Route 100 South. Follow 100 South through Waitsfield. Turn right onto the Sugarbush Access Road (look for the Sugarbush Resort Area sign). NOTE: I-91 through Brattleboro is open, with some repair work ongoing.
